'I put my credit card in the machine, 2 other people came up and [helped] with the total': Wholesome strangers band together at the register to help a struggling mom and her sick kids

When the weight of the holidays starts settling in on parents, it's easy to crack under the pressure. Living paycheck to paycheck is tough enough as is, but with the added financial strain of gift giving, holiday meals, and your kiddo's Christmas memories, parents are running on fumes this time of year. And heaven forbid the kids catch a cold at school, or your boss denies your PTO…

A woman was having one of those torrential downpour days at the grocery store this week. The kids were sick and crying, while she lethargically pushed her essentials-only shopping cart through the aisle. However, a holiday miracle happened at the register after a kind stranger noticed her plight. Unsurprisingly, our faith in humanity has dwindled in recent years, but after this woman's bill was covered by the likes of four heartfelt strangers, we might just see our faith in human goodness rising to new heights. 

It's the holiday season after all, and this woman just got her Christmas cheer delivered a little earlier than expected.

  • Group kindness in WalMart While I was doing some shopping, I continuously heard a young child screaming and crying. It was heard throughout the store. When I got to the self check out, the mother was in the lane next to me, child still crying.

  • her that I thought she could use it. She broke out in tears and hugged me. People in line softened their gaze and gave me a nod of acknowledgement.

  • I glanced in her basket and saw it was 3/4 full with diapers, children's medicine, food and some small toys. I told her that I would like to pay for her purchase and she tried to refuse, saying it was too much. I told her that she was worthy of something good happening to her today.

  • I let her tend to her children as I scanned and bagged her items. One person started showing the crying child photos of a puppy on her phone, which calmed her down. As I put my credit card in the machine, 2 other people came up and gave me cash to help with the total.

  • OP ThatTravel5692 I promise you that it is not Al. It was a magical moment for me. Yesterday I found out that my brother was diagnosed that he has Alzheimers, which took both of my parents. I was in a deep hole and helping someone else pulled me out of it.
